Custom Development Terms & Conditions
Custom Second Life Systems & Software Development
These terms establish the general rules for custom development projects provided by Game Code Craft.
They are intended to protect both the client and the developer by clearly defining project scope, payment, development, ownership, delivery, support, and responsibilities.
A specific project quote or agreement may contain additional terms that apply only to that project.
1. Custom Development Services
Game Code Craft provides custom scripting and system development for Second Life, including systems built with technologies such as LSL, Lua/SLua when available and applicable, web technologies, databases, APIs, HUDs, and related functionality.
Custom projects may include, depending on the agreed scope:
- Roleplay systems
- Combat systems
- Game systems
- HUDs
- Database systems
- Administration systems
- In-world tools
- Website integrations
- API integrations
- Communication systems
- Inventory systems
- Currency systems
- Custom scripted objects
- Other custom software functionality
The exact services included in each project will be defined in the individual project scope and quote.
2. Minimum Project Price
Custom development projects have a minimum starting price. The starting price does not represent the final price of every project.
The final price depends on factors including:
- System complexity
- Number of features
- Development time
- Database requirements
- Website requirements
- HUD/UI requirements
- External integrations
- Testing requirements
- Administration features
- Compatibility requirements
- Special technical requirements
3. Project Requirements & Scope
Before development begins, the project should have an agreed scope describing what is being created.
The scope may include:
- Features and functions
- Commands
- HUD requirements
- User permissions
- Administration features
- Database requirements
- Website requirements
- Integrations
- Compatibility requirements
- Delivery requirements
- Testing requirements
The agreed scope defines what is included in the project price.
4. Payment
A deposit is required before development begins.
50% Deposit
Required before development begins unless another payment schedule has been agreed.
50% Final Payment
Due before final delivery.
For larger projects, payments may instead be divided into development milestones.
Deposit → Development → Milestone → Testing → Final Payment → Delivery
Development may be paused if a required payment is overdue.
Final project files, source code, full-permission assets, or other agreed deliverables will not be released until all required payments have been completed.
5. Payment Methods
The accepted payment method will be specified in the project quote or invoice.
The client is responsible for any transaction fees associated with their chosen payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Payment disputes or chargebacks made without first attempting to resolve the issue directly may result in suspension or termination of the project.
6. Changes to the Project
Once a project has been approved and development begins, changes to the original requirements may affect the price and delivery time.
Examples include:
- Adding new features
- Removing and replacing major functionality
- Changing the database structure
- Changing the user interface
- Adding new systems
- Adding new integrations
- Changing how an existing system works
- Requesting functionality not included in the original scope
Small corrections to functionality that was already agreed upon may be handled as part of normal development. Major changes may require a new quote or additional payment.
7. Revision Policy
The project quote may specify how many revision rounds are included.
Revisions are intended to correct or adjust the agreed functionality. A revision is not the same as adding a new feature.
Included Revision
"The button should open the menu instead of closing it."
Additional Feature
"Can we add a second menu with a faction ranking system?"
Additional features may require additional development fees.
8. Art, Animations, Special Effects, Sounds & Meshes
Game Code Craft is primarily a software, scripting, and system development service.
We do not create custom:
- Animations
- Meshes
- 3D models
- Special effects / VFX

Existing Assets
If Game Code Craft already has suitable assets available, we may provide or use those assets when appropriate.
If the required asset is not already available, the client is responsible for providing the necessary asset or obtaining it from an appropriate creator or marketplace.
Client-provided meshes, animations, sounds, textures, effects, and other assets can be integrated where technically possible and where integration is included in the agreed scope.
9. Client-Provided Assets
The client confirms that they have the necessary rights or permissions to provide any assets supplied for the project.
This includes:
- Meshes
- Textures
- Sounds
- Animations
- Scripts
- Logos
- Images
- Fonts
- Other copyrighted or licensed materials
Game Code Craft is not responsible for ownership disputes involving assets supplied by the client.
10. Second Life Platform Limitations
All Second Life development is subject to the technical limitations and behavior of the Second Life platform.
- LSL
- Lua/SLua
- Scripts
- Land permissions
- Region settings
- Experience permissions
- HTTP services
- External servers
- Avatar permissions
- Object permissions
- Script memory
- Server-side limitations
- Linden Lab services
- Third-party services
Game Code Craft cannot guarantee functionality that is technically impossible or unsupported by Second Life.
If Second Life, Linden Lab, an external service, or another third party changes functionality that affects a project, additional work may be required.
11. Third-Party Services
Projects may depend on external services such as:
- Web hosting
- Databases
- APIs
- Websites
- Discord
- External servers
- Payment services
- Other third-party platforms
12. Client Responsibilities
The client is responsible for providing information and materials required to complete the project.
- Requirements

- Images
- Meshes
- Animations
- Sounds
- Textures
- Website information
- API credentials
- Hosting information
- Database information
- Testing information
- Access permissions
Development delays caused by missing information, unavailable assets, delayed decisions, or delayed approvals may affect the project timeline.
13. Development Timeline
Estimated delivery dates are based on the agreed project scope and the availability of required information and assets.
A delivery estimate is not a guarantee of a specific date unless a fixed deadline has been explicitly agreed.
Delays may occur because of:
- Scope changes
- Client delays
- Missing assets
- Technical problems
- Third-party services
- Second Life issues
- Testing requirements
- Unexpected technical complexity
If a major delay occurs, the client will be informed.
14. Testing
A testing version may be provided before final delivery.
The client is expected to test the system and report problems related to the agreed project scope.
A request for new functionality is not considered a bug.
Bug
"The system is supposed to save the player's inventory but it doesn't."
New Feature
"Can we also make the inventory transfer between different regions?"
15. Final Approval
Once the system has been tested and the agreed functionality has been completed, the project may be considered ready for final delivery.
Requests made after final approval may be treated as maintenance, revisions, or additional development.
16. Delivery
Final delivery will contain the items specifically agreed upon in the project scope.
- Scripts
- HUDs
- Objects
- Notecards
- Configuration files
- Database files
- Website files

A client commissioning a custom system does not automatically acquire ownership of GameCodeCraft's underlying development framework or reusable technology.
19. Exclusivity
Custom development does not automatically provide exclusive rights.
If a client requires:
- Exclusive ownership
- Exclusive licensing
- Source-code ownership
- Resale rights
- Commercial redistribution rights
- Restrictions preventing similar functionality for other clients
These requirements must be agreed upon separately. Exclusive development may require an additional fee.
20. Reusable Technology
Game Code Craft may develop reusable components while creating a custom system.
Unless specifically sold as exclusive technology, Game Code Craft may continue to use general-purpose development concepts, frameworks, utilities, methods, and non-client-specific components in future projects.
21. Confidentiality

Neither party should publicly disclose confidential information without permission.
22. Cancellation
If the client cancels a project after development has started, the deposit generally covers work already performed and is non-refundable unless otherwise agreed.
Completed milestones or outstanding development work may remain payable.
23. Abandoned Projects
If the client becomes unreachable or stops providing the information required to continue development, the project may be placed on hold.
A project may be considered abandoned after an extended period of inactivity, such as 60–90 days, unless otherwise agreed.
If an abandoned project is later restarted, additional work or restart fees may apply depending on the circumstances.

26. Emergency & Priority Development
Projects are normally completed according to the development queue.
If a client requires priority or emergency development, an additional fee may apply.
Priority pricing will be agreed before the work begins.
27. Communication
Important project decisions, requirements, approvals, and scope changes should be documented in writing.
Casual conversations, voice conversations, or informal requests should not be considered official changes to the project scope until confirmed.
28. Portfolio & Promotional Use
Unless confidentiality has been specifically requested, Game Code Craft may display completed work in its portfolio, website, marketplace listings, social media, or promotional materials.
For private, unreleased, or confidential projects, Game Code Craft will obtain appropriate permission before publicly displaying confidential information or materials.
